Meet the Filmmaker

“A cargo ship full of heart and determination went into making this film and I hope you enjoy!”

—Adam Seidel, screenwriter

In my early twenties, years before I even considered being a writer, I used to take road trips out West to visit friends. Many of these trips took me through the desert.  It was on these journeys, driving through hundreds of miles of barren, beautiful nothingness, that I fell in love with the desert and the mysteries it possesses.

Fast forward to years later when I began this screenplay and, staring at a blank page I thought to myself ‘what better location to set a story about a person trying to discover themselves and their purpose than in a downtrodden roadside motel smack dab in the middle of the desert?’

“As the screenwriter, I could not be happier with the way this film was directed, the locations used to shoot it, and most importantly, I could not be more grateful to the cast for how they portrayed these complicated, strange characters.”

—Adam Seidel, screenwriter

For me this story could only take place in the desert, as to me the desert is an environment that facilitates spiritual reckoning and healing, both of which are experienced by Clive our protagonist, who holds onto the family motel with hopes of turning it into an art retreat because she wants it to give meaning to her existence. And then you can’t have a story taking place in the New Mexican desert without an extraterrestrial showing up.

As the screenwriter, I could not be happier with the way this film was directed, the locations used to shoot it, and most importantly, I could not be more grateful to the cast for how they portrayed these complicated, strange characters.  A cargo ship full of heart and determination went into making this film and I hope you enjoy!
